ruralflyingdoc is published by Dr. Gerry Considine (Twitter: @ruralflyingdoc) who is currently working as a rural General Practice registrar in the Adelaide Hills. In 2013, Gerry is teaching undergraduate medicine at Adelaide University, conducting research into solo rural GPs and putting together a series of simple GP presentation vodcasts. He hopes to undertake advanced training in emergency medicine and/or minor surgical skills.
He also has an interest in GP policy and reform, music and aviation. To this end, Gerry is involved in General Practice Registrars Association (GPRA), plays in a two-piece blues rock band called Stomp The Orange and has gained his pilot certificate (almost finished PPL). Gerry is passionate about rural General Practice and is keen to work and advocate for it on a national level in the future.
The purpose of this site is to be a repository of opinion pieces, blogs, humorous asides and links. All related to GP advocacy, e-health, local music, rural GP work, and aviation…enjoy!
